Developmental Season & Practice Info
Fall 2025 season will run from August 18th - October 11th (weather permitting)
Spring 2026 season will run from March 23rd - May 16th (weather permitting)

BENSC Developmental Level is an in-house program where players focus on getting lots of touches on the soccer ball at each practice. BENSC utilizes US Soccer's Play-Practice-Play philosophy in the skills development of our young players. The goal of our Development Level play is to improve each players foot skills. The purpose of this format is to ensure that all players in our developmental age range are getting hundreds of touches on the soccer ball each week.

Developmental 5U-7U players, will have two practices each week. The practice time during the week will be a technical skills based session. The Saturday morning practice will be a weekly scrimmage(s) versus other BENSC teams. We will end our Fall/Spring seasons with a 4v4 Festival. Each team will play approximately 3 games against other BENSC teams. There will be BENSC apparel, bounce houses and food available as well.
The 4U Co-Ed age group will have one weekly practice to work on technical skills. The 4U age group does not participate in the Festival games but are more than welcome to come and enjoy the festivities as well as the food/bounce houses and fun soccer atmosphere!

Our developmental division assignments are determined by player's birth year (age), as all kids who are born in the same year will play together. We have seven divisions:
-
Boys & Girls - 7U Divisions (boys & girls are separate)
-
Boys & Girls - 6U Divisions (boys & girls are separate)
-
Boys & Girls - 5U Divisions (boys & girls are separate)
-
Boys & Girls - 4U Division (coed)
Nebraska Youth Soccer League (NYSL) now has a competitive season for 8U players. All players will play 5v5 games against other metro teams. Practices will still be held at the BENSC Complex. Please click on the button below or the 8U tab on the Competition page for more info.

Developmental Fall 2025 Weekly Game/Scrimmage Schedule:
Preseason Parent Informational Email
4U - 7U Team Formation Info:
The soccer calendar year starts in the fall and ends after the spring season (just like a school year).
All players will be placed on teams according to their birth year, per Nebraska State Soccer (NSS) rules.

BENSC does its best to place players on the same team for ONE soccer calendar year. This means that we try to keep the same players on a team that registered for the fall season on the same team during the spring season. *Rosters might change due to registration numbers &/or number of volunteers each season.

All volunteer coaches will be placed on the same roster as their child.
NSS requires that all 4U-8U teams be random team formations. At the start of every new soccer calendar year, all teams will be randomly formed and changed from the previous soccer calendar year.
Starting at 9U, all players will complete the assessment process and then players will be placed on a like-skilled team.

TeamSnap App
All players will be assigned to a coach and team when registration has closed. TeamSnap (TS) is an app used for communication by BENSC. All communication and schedules will be sent through this app. Please download the app and you will be placed on a team when registration has closed. Please allow time for team formation at the end of registration.

Only one parent (the primary parent who completed registration) will be added to the TS account when the player is rostered to a team. That parent/primary account holder, can add as many additional family members to their account as they wish. Please reference this article for instructions:

Weather Policy
Unfortunately the Nebraska weather is not always “soccer friendly”. We realize that some parents will be frustrated when we cancel practices, and some others will be frustrated when we don’t cancel. As a group of volunteer board members & volunteer coaches – we do our best to make the right call, but recognize that we can’t always make everyone happy.
The BENSC board of directors have created weather parameters to ensure our players are safe and are having fun on the field. Moving forward we will not hold practices or festivals for DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUE ONLY when the following conditions apply at the start of practice / festival times:
-
Wind Chill is below 30 degrees
-
Heat Index is above 95 degrees
-
There is lightning within 5 miles of the soccer complex
Developmental League WILL have practices / festivals during the following times:
-
Recently rained, but the fields are deemed to be in good shape (your kids will get muddy)!
-
Current light rain, but no storms in the area
-
Holiday weekends are at the coaches discretion (Easter, Labor Day, Spring Break)
In addition - weather decisions will typically not be made until about an hour or so before the start of a session because Nebraska weather changes quickly and we always want to play when possible. Weather decisions will be communicated out via TeamSnap.
Competitive teams (8U & older) & Winter/Summer Academy sessions will still be at coaches discretion and do not fall into these parameters. As always – parents have the final decision on if to send their child to play on any given day. No child will be penalized for missing a practice or festival due to weather.
