Coach Laurent surprised the team with waterballoons. Timely move as this was one hot afternoon.
In this drill we run to the ball, roll back the ball to change directions and pass. Our goal is to be quick and accurate. Move those feet.

* Be aware of your surroundings at all times, keep track of the goalkeeper's position at all times
* Go for accuracy rather than power, missing the goal altogether is worse than it being saved
* Concentrate and think about nothing but the goal
What a couple of weeks for the Hurricanes. A four game winning streak with what I would call the best win I've ever been a part of this past Sunday in Fremont.
That comeback was special. At halftime I spoke with the girls that adespite being down they could still win. After I was done talking they gathered and began to talk amongst themselves about what they needed to do. We all know how the second half ended up.
What a great victory. And what a great lesson for the girls. Never give up. If you want it go get it.
It's now tournament time. This is a time to go out, leave it all on the field, and have fun. Let's get to work Hurricanes!
I can't say enough about how proud I am of this team. Coming off our first victory on Sunday could the team come out and make it two wins a row? Why not. And that we did.
A sluggish first half made things interesting. At halftime we gathered the girls around for our halftime talk. We emphasized the same things that we always do during games and practices - being more aggressive, attacking more, quicker, and trusting your teammates.
It took a few minutes into the second half before things clicked. And once it clicked we were all having fun. At the end of the game I reminded the girls that the team we just played reminded me a lot of our team. We were content with just kicking the ball with no purpose. Look at us now - running our lanes, center kicks, give and go's, powerful kicks to the goal.
We're having fun. Let's keep improving. Let's keep working harder. Let's get to work Hurricanes!
You could tell something special was going to happen this weekend. It all started with what I describe as a fast paced and energetic practice on Saturday. Everything was clicking. The girls were sticking to their lanes. The girls were passing with accuracy and with strength. They were having fun. You could tell everyone was ready to play.
And sure enough the girls came out to play and lead the team to its first victory.
I remind the girls everytime I see them of a few things - one being we play our games how we practice. That this is their team not mine. They finally got what I was saying. I'm so proud of them.
As rewarding as it is to win our first match we must now take the field and work harder. You can be happy with where you're at or you can be hungry for more. They're hungry for more.
